with ÈredsuperstructureÇ, robert lippok created a new foundation for his musical endeavors. now Ð 7 years later Ð this system properly comes to life on Èapplied autonomyÇ. the title of the new album is a clear indicator as to what the berlin-based producer has been up to during the last couple of years, both on a conceptual level as well as how he molds his ideas into tracks. Èapplied autonomyÇ orchestrates a certain state of frantic standstill, which occurs once a structure is set. has this state been reached, the artist is free to focus on other equally important aspects, balancing the various shades, pushing ideas even further to really make them shine and blossom in their self-declared autonomy. the more light one lets in, the more layers become visible. layers are key when it comes to understanding Èapplied autonomyÇ. big chunks of the material with which the album has been produced derive from sketches specifically made for a club performance. rather than meticulously devising each and every detail, lippok focussed instead on recording as many fragments as possible in a short period of time, elements which he could later combine and layer on stage. based on this material and his experience experimenting with it in a live environment, the album slowly began to shape. an album culminating in a collaboration with klara lewis, with whom lippok spent 2 days at the ems studios in stockholm, approaching the idea of autonomy from yet another angle. during the session, both musicians played and performed simultaneously, yet not explicitly together, lost in their own thoughts and ideas, only subconsciously taking in what the other one was coming up with. the result is ÈsamtalÇ, 14 minutes of a constantly evolving state of poise, magically connecting all the dots lippok had already defined as Èapplied autonomyÇ. the artwork for Èapplied autonomyÇ has been created by the berlin-based argentinian artist luca gutierrez. over the last couple of years, he has made a name for himself with his spectacular av performances.

digipack cd, der wahl-new-yorker chrome sparks verffentlicht vielseitiges debtalbum auf counter records! chrome sparks (aka jeremy malvin) wei§, wie er seine tracks im besten licht stehen lsst. sein selbstbetiteltes debtalbum, das via counter records (ein ninja tune-sublabel) erscheint, sticht heraus mit einem funkelnden sound: eine euphonie aus hiphop, house und hell leuchtender arbeit am synthesizer. die platte ist das endergebnis jahrelanger arbeit in malvinÕs marinewerft (seinem studio in brooklyn) und einer abgelegen htte nrdlich von new york. allein dort hat er einen ganzen monat allein zugebracht, um den ablenkungen der stadt zu entkommen und um diesen prozess zu destillieren, was anschlie§end zu einer periode intensiver kreativitt wurde. auf dem album selbst finden sich zusammenarbeiten mit dem australischen duo kllo (ghostly) und body languagesÕ angelica bess (die auch bereits mit machinedrum kollaborierte). das album ist sowohl ergebnis eines obsessiven produktionsansatzes als auch ber die rastlose jagd nach neuen ideen. sein kreative mentalitt wurde sowohl durch live-auftritte als auch studiogegniedel geprgt. sie ist das grundgerst, das es ihm erlaubte, so viele diffuse ideen wirklichkeit werden zu lassen, die schlussendlich in einem hervorstechenden und vielfltigen debtalbum resultieren.

scuba continues his uncompromising scb moniker with caibu, a twelve track lp of cerebral techno, darkened disco and broken beats. paul roses career has enjoyed a unique trajectory that affords his reputation as one of the scenes most forward-thinking artists, label heads and promoters. always the risk taker, his hotflush imprint is credited as a key force behind the evolution of bass music, whilst his ground-breaking booking policy for the sub:stance night at berghain opened up one of the worlds most revered venues to new sounds and musical possibility. today he continues to challenge the status quo of electronic music through a packed touring schedule, various artistic projects of his own and a weekly radio show platforming new material. caibu is his first album as scb and incorporates material from the below the line and Ôold media new society eps of last year. preceding the release, a third ep - engineered morality - continuing to explore the fictional narrative in which a climate-related disaster corrupts a hypothetical timeline. the title of the album itself refers to an imagined surgical procedure where cognitive ability is augmented through transplant from one brain to another. as such, caibu and its accompanying eps invite the listener to forge their own ideas on the development of society in the context of crisis. within this dystopic setting, caibu draws strength from introspection. at times trapped in a pressurized container, at others floating through vast spaces, scb merges subdued hypnotism, syncopated basslines and visceral ambience to find his centre.

everything begins with changes, whether you re moving geographically or emotionally. aeraÕs album ãthe sound pathÓ tells the story of this sentiment.
born in the high north of germany and now a berlin resident, ralf schmidt aka aera first appeared on the electronic music map when he established his own aleph music label back in 2010. with only a handful of releases, aera was able to lay out his very own musically topography on the cutting edges between house, psychedelia and breakbeats. this colourful mix culminated on his debut album ãoffseason travellerÓ in 2013, resonating the past forty years of electronic music, which brought him the attention of a wider audience as well as fellow djs and producers. so it was a logical consequence that his talent also attracted other labels and lead to widely praised releases on innervisions, maeve or john talabotÕs hivern discs. with these, aeraÕs sound bloomed further into bubbly acid and trancey territorries and his fine reputation as a singular producer, travelling dj and remixer flourished. with ãthe sound pathÓ aera continues his musical travels and permanent vacation is gladly hitchhiking on that ride. his second album is the most coherent and definitely most personal work to date. here, he has perfected his sound even further - adding nuances from the meadows of new age, kraut cliffs and high-flying kites of ambient. complete with the cinematic and nature-esque qualities of ralfÕs music, it will draw you in deeply through a great variety of landscapes before your inner eye. however, youÕll never lose track, because this path is beautifully illuminated.
